GILLETTE, Wyo.- Here is a brief summary of all things crime that happened in and around Gillette yesterday, obtained through law enforcement reports from the Gillette Police Department (GPD) and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

Intoxication, July 1, S. Douglas Highway, GPD

Officers arrested a 25-year-old man for intoxication after responding to a report of three men fighting on S. Douglas Highway Friday morning around 11:51 a.m., according to Gillette Deputy Police Chief Brent Wasson. They contacted another 25-year-old man who had face injuries and told them the other 25-year-old man struck him in the face several times, though he declined to pursue any charges, Wasson said. The 25-year-old man arrested for intoxication was also cited for having an open container of vodka with him, per Wasson.

Drugs, July 1, W. Lakeway Road, CCSO

A 24-year-old man was arrested for possession of marijuana after being stopped for speeding on W. Lakeway Road Friday around 10:08 p.m., according to Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds. The man was stopped while driving a 2013 Chevrolet Cruz and admitted to having marijuana paraphernalia in the vehicle; a subsequent search yielded .15 grams of suspected marijuana on the man in addition to two THC vape cartridges.

Drugs, July 2, Lodahl Avenue, GPD

Two individuals, one a 40-year-old man and the other a 36-year-old woman, were arrested after officers found them with fentanyl pills and a pistol while investigating a report of two people in a silver Nissan smoking out of pipes on Lodahl Avenue Saturday, Wasson said. The pistol belonged to the 40-year-old man who is disqualified from owning firearms, per Wasson. Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance and the man was charged with possession of a firearm.

Deputies arrested a 60-year-old man for possession of meth and marijuana on Highway 59 Sunday night around 11 p.m., Reynolds said, who said the man had meth paraphernalia in plain view inside his 2010 Dodge Charger. Over 7 grams of meth and nearly 3 grams of marijuana were found on the man and in his vehicle during a subsequent search, Reynolds said. The man was charged with felony possession of meth and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Breach of peace, July 4, Garner Lake Road, GPD

A 62-year-old man was cited for breach of peace after he allegedly pointed a handgun at a dog while preparing for a walk at the Energy Capital Sports Complex around 2:12 p.m. on Independence Day, Wasson said. The dog’s owner, a 63-year-old man, let the dog out of his vehicle without a leash and the dog approached the 62-year-old man. The 62-year-old man also began using profane language towards the 63-year-old, who ultimately called the police.

DWUI, July 5, S. Gillette Avenue, GPD

A 40-year-old woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated with a child passenger  after she almost hit a police vehicle on S. Gillette Avenue shortly after midnight on July 5, Wasson said. The woman reportedly stuck her arm out of the vehicle window and extended her middle finger at the officer. After she was stopped, officers observed an open container of alcohol in the vehicle cup holder as well as a child passenger, per Wasson, who said she was taken into custody after failing field sobriety tests.
